NYC man charged with DWI in Piermont

 

PIERMONT – A New York City man was arrested Monday after drunkenly crashing into an unoccupied parked car on Route 9W near the Upper Grandview border, Piermont police Chief Michael O'Shea said.Charged in connection with the 1:40 p.m. crash was Zumi Daikubara, 73, of Manhattan, who was taken to Nyack Hospital after the crash and treated for minor injuries, O'Shea said.Daikubara faces misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He will appear in Village Court at 7 p.m. April 9.Piermont police were aided at the scene by South Nyack-Grand View police and the Piermont Fire Department's ambulance corps, which treated Daikubara. No other injuries were reported.

Suspect sought in Stony Point home invasion robbery STONY POINT 

 

A man living in the Knights Corner Senior complex off Tomkins Avenue was punched several times late Friday by a man who then forced himself into the home, stealing several items, police said.The alleged victim did not suffer any serious injuries, but did find his laptop computer had been taken during the 11 p.m. incident, Stony Point police Lt. Keith Williams said.Stony Point officers as well as a Haverstraw police K-9 unit and the Rockland County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded and searched the area, Williams said.The suspect is believed to be a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man weighing 160 pounds. Police could not say which way he fled or whether he was on foot or in a car.
